I hold a deep passion for helping people like you create a sustainable and robust business that allows you to take charge of your future, your finances and your lifestyle.

Within the Jim’s Pool Care Division my role is the Regional Franchisor of Sydney Central. I wear my Jim’s Pool Care Pool and Spa Technician hat during the day, not just because I am sun safe. I also operate as a Franchisee and my Territory is Carlingford. My dual roles mean I can give real time support and guidance to my Franchisees, I can walk the talk.

Prior to me becoming a Jim, (some first time customers do call me Jim), I was a sole trader for over 20 years. My expertise as an electrician coupled with my extensive business experience has certainly aided my transition to being a highly successful pool technician, businessman and salesman.

Life before Jim

My genesis story in a nutshell started with me becoming itchy in hot roofs and under damp houses. I was making enough money but as electricians can tell you, the margins were slimmer and slimmer. The itch then moved from the physical to the psychological. Growing tired of the up and down of ladders and the toll it was taking on my body I knew I needed a change. Coincidentally around this time, a friend had joined Jim’s Pool Care and I keenly interrogated him on his new venture. Initially I thought he had blown up his life, leaving his great job to clean pools…..how wrong I was and I will happily admit so.

While I was going through the daily grind which I didn’t hate, I watched his hardwork and business grow over 3 years. Looking back, I should have dived right in much sooner. He had no trade background, but a desire to buy a business not a job and make it his own. He wasn’t just cleaning pools, he became a clever salesman. He provided exceptional service to his customers and solved their complex pool issues with state of the art equipment, extensive product knowledge and a willingness to tackle challenges out of his comfort zone.

His previous great job didn’t remotely come close to how profitable he was. Pool equipment sales can be lucrative. He was taught expertly by master technicians and had the backing of the Jim’s Group. I was fascinated and his regular nudging to the path of a change in life started to grow on me.

I wanted to improve my family’s future and my lifestyle even more. I wanted a network where I could sink my teeth into and also not have to start everything from scratch. The Jim’s Group appealed to me as both a customer and potential Franchisee. I knew all too well that following systems and procedures was essential to business efficiency and success. There was no need to reinvent the wheel. The answer was right in my face and I could no longer ignore it.

Becoming Jim

In October 2021 I went live and set out to build a customer base within and around my Territory. Our terrific Jim’s Pool Care and Jim’s Group training and onboarding really set me up to hit the ground running. I was trained by highly experienced technicians. Yes ,I came with a Trade background, but what if you haven’t?

What I have observed in my time as a Franchisor since mid 2022 and as a Franchisee, is that all work experience is relevant and can be applied to the context of running a business, being a salesperson and being a skillful technician. Everything you’ve ever done has prepared you to take the next step.

Working in partnership with me, guiding and leading you with proven processes, technical support and income generating strategies, you will have a great start to live the life of your dreams.

At Jim’s Pool Care we have a very rich and diverse group of Franchisees including; landscapers, plumbers, school teachers, industrial chemists, big box managers, ex-services and ex-law enforcement, pilots, all trades, gym instructors, people with multiple degrees and PhDs, software engineers, civil engineers, retail shop workers and the list goes on.

So what’s the common theme here… it’s men and women, ready to realise their dreams and make it happen. Speaking to anyone who has their own business, they will tell you it’s years of hard work and that is true, I have lived it for 3 decades now.

Whilst you’re looking to see how suitable we are in helping you get a start, we are also looking at you. At Jim’s we will only onboard the people we believe will be successful. Our ethics and moral compass guide our decisions on suitability for becoming a Jim’s Pool Care Franchisee. We will guide you, but we will not run your business for you. This can be a big change for some, from being an employee with a job, to being the boss of your own business.

Being Jim

The Sydney Central Region is full of residential and commercial pools. Spanning from Hunters Hill to Cheltenham, through to Seven Hills and right down to Chester Hill and Wentworth Point. My region has a strong demand for work and customers who are willing to pay for our premium service.

As the Jim’s Group is a trusted brand across Australia, our customers are overall of high quality and appreciate the value of our exceptional service to their pool enclosure. We return precious time to customers and ensure their pool is swim ready every day of the year.

You’re not just cleaning pools, you’re a salesperson with technical expertise. Your Jim’s Pool Care Franchise is a complete business with 2 distinct income streams. And if you’re very clever you can maximise both to your advantage and lifestyle:

  1. Regular and one off pool servicing and chemical sales, AND;
  2. High value retail/mobile sales and installation of pool equipment

These income streams suit enthusiastic and focussed people who are no strangers to hard work and have a disposition that is customer centric whilst looking for opportunities to take the burden of pool and equipment maintenance off their customers.

Multiplying Jim

When you buy a Jim’s Pool Care Franchise, there are no limits on your expansion. We have plenty of husband and wife teams and even father and child teams for a start. You don’t have to be the only Jim in your business.

As a Franchisor I work with my wife and we are incredibly vocal about encouraging women to be part of the business if they are not already a Franchisee of their own. Women bring high value skills and expertise to a Franchise by drawing on prior skills gained and applying them in a new setting.

As a Franchisor with my wife Gemma, we provide additional support, inclusion and opportunities for family members who are part of your business. We absolutely delight in going the extra mile to help them and help you refine and grow your business with systems and strategies.

Life is extra sweet when your family is part of the work that sees the reward, kids included! We have 4 children and they all spend time in the business and out in the field. Encouraging our children’s entrepreneurial thinking, lifelong learning, hands-on skills and teaching them where the family money comes from is a personal highlight of ours.
